Frist Friday

Human Geo was my last class of the day and all day I was looking forward to it.  Not just because it was the last thing before my free mod but because it’s just a fun class.  Today we talked about a philosopher back in B.C times, his name was Socrates.  He was a very smart man but he wasn’t smart enough to get out of his trail for death. All he had to do was to apologize but he didn’t.  So then he had to drink this poison that paralyzed him and then killed him.  I thought that is kind of bad way to die.  Even though he was going out in a heroic way I still would have just said I’m sorry and will never do anything like that ever again.  I guess if I really believe in something I would stand up for it though so it really probably depends on what it is.  If I was on trial for loving cupcakes I probably would have let them take my life as long as I could die by eating a poisoned cupcake.

Today in Geo

Today I had human geo 2nd and 3rd mod, we actually started learning things today.  Which wasn’t as fun as talking to friend but for a human geo class it was a lot of fun.  We read a paper written by a man named Elbert.  I personally thought that what we read was definitely making a good point.  People do complain and slack off so much.  The problem is so many people get away with slacking off that they just keep on doing it.  I find it annoying when people don’t do their work. We also got donuts, but some people didn’t take one.  That kind of surprised me because I was starving and when I saw the donuts I was like FOOD!!!   I also got to talk to the people next to me about quidditch.  We all might join the team this coming season.  I think it would be a lot of fun to be on the quidditch team I always thought that game looked like fun when I watched the movie Harry Potter.

Day 2 of Human Geo

So Human Geo is my favorite class so far.  Today in class we got all of our blogs working.  Mine was already set up, so I got to talk to the people next to me next to me.   I talked to Maria, I knew Maria from basketball she was on my team for about 3 years.  She was also on my soccer team.  I also talked to Savanna I have talk to her before but I realized that she is really nice and funny.  I talked to Taylor she sits across.  She was also very nice and she was loud too.  The boy that sits next to me was nice but he was quiet and kind of shy.  Over all today was a great day in human Geo.  Even though soon we will begin actually learning things and studying.  The class will hopefully stay my favorite as the year goes on.

In the time of ancient Geek the word idiot was used to describe a person that was very private.

ArĂȘte – qualities that make up a person with good character

Polis- means city in Greek

Socrates- was a philosopher that never wrote and thing but he changed the way people looked at philosophy forever

The death of Socrates- Socrates was condemned to death by drinking hemlock.

The Socratic method- a form of debate from different viewpoints, named after Socrates

The date 508 BC – when war started between Ancient Rome and the Etruscans

Agora- a central part of cities in in old Greek

The beginning

Today was the first real day of Human Geo we learned about what we will be doing this year.  We read the rules and learned about the class.  I like how we will be writing notes instead of tying things because I remember things when I write them.   We got new seats and I sit in a pretty good spot.   I sit behind an old friend from softball Maria.  I think this class will be fun.  Mr. Schick miss spelled my name, it made me very mad.  Just kidding Mr. Schick I suck at names it is a miracle that I can remember my own.  We have a pretty big class.  I know most of the people I it so that’s good.  I liked the energy in the classroom it kind of takes some of the stress away.  Today the class was fun I just hope it stays that way.

freaked out freshman

When I woke up this morning, the first thing I did was look at my watch. When I saw it was almost 7:00, I started to freak out.  I did my hair very nicely and put on little bit of makeup (which is unusual for me because my hair is usually in a bun and I never wear makeup). I was nervous when I walked in, but instead of a small hello I received the biggest hug from Mrs. B and then I felt at home. Then, I felt much better to see all of my friends in the cafeteria and meet new people.  I found it pretty cool that we got to go to our classes for a few minutes and see everyone.  As the day started to end and I watched my friends and I start to walk apart and talk to new people, I realized in the next four years at this school everything is going to change. I will grow mentally and physically.  I will make new friends and my friends will make new friends.  So far I am ready for John Carroll I just hope JC is ready for me!
